Great day out with the old man. Went to his Lk WA perch spot for some fish fry material. Threw out my crawdad pots in a this new location just for grins and in our three hour trip yielded great promise. Nine nice sized crawdads...I'll be back in force and let you know. Caught a new fish for me, a tench. Good fight on my light weight perch gear. Also caught about 100 perch, with about with 50 keepers between the two of us. Some really nice jumbos.

Goodness gracious 50 decent perch??!! Good on you. And that is one BIG 'daddy there! Thanx for the tench mention too. I hadn't heard of it before. Another carp species, oy... At least it isn't a pikeminnow.

I wish I could say the crawdad and perch were the average but no they were the big ones for the day. Perch, we had ten or so"jumbos" that size. The rest were good sized (I can fillet them and feel good about the effort it took). I think if we had longer we could have gotten more. The crawdads were caught on bass carcasses I'd filleted out and frozen. Three hour random daytime drop with two of my small traps I wad doing back flips. My nine crawdads I caught completely covered a dinner plate. I'll use all my fish carcasses for bait. Just drop in a zip lock and freeze. Good way to get rid of them too without smelling up the garbage can.

Wow sounds like you guys did pretty well. Were you on a boat or from shore? What were you using for bait for the perch?
