I was tasked with taking a good buddy fishing this morning to distract him for a surprise birthday party later in the day.. Since he lives on the eastside we headed to Beaver Lake bright and early.. we trolled the whole lake looking for fish in numbers but it was pretty dismal, seems most the trout have been fished out maybe? So we switched gears towards Bass and found a nice area with consistent fish on the sonar close to shore at the south end.. I started casting out next to a floating swimming dock working the plastic squid type jig across the bottom, right away I was getting some hits and about the 7th cast in the fish slammed my rig and gave me a good couple leaps as i slowly worked it to the boat. picked it up, took a pic and off it went.. the next hour or more we circled this area with no more luck.. so we called it a day on the fishing and headed back and eventually to the party.. I was bummed I couldn't get my buddy into any fish for his birthday party day.. he hasn't fished for a couple years so i'm trying to get him "hoooked" :) overall the fishing was a lot slower than i thought it would be.. But i'm happy to land my 1st Bass of the yr though! not a lunker but a decent lil fish i think :)
