I received a call early Friday morning from my friend Pete. He asked if I wanted some catfish? Now I really do enjoy some deep fried catfish! Been awhile since I had some, so I said YES... at least three times. Turns out that Pete and his neighbor made a trip late Thursday night and most of Friday morning to ol' Lake Washington to catch a mess of Brown Bullhead (aka Catfish). After I said "yes", I learned that the fish were still "on the hoof" (they weren't cleaned)! Anyway, I met Pete after work and he handed me a cooler containing six really nice fish. The smallest was 10" and the largest a whopping 13". It had been many years since I filleted a mess of catfish, so I was pretty rusty, but after the first fish I was pretty proficient with the fileting knife and soon had a plate heaped with great looking catfish filets (only stabbed myself once with the "pointy" end of the knife... was able to stop the bleeding before a trip to ER became necessary!). For the particulars, you'll have to contact Pete (also a WALakes member) all I know is, I'm gonna enjoy those filets! PTL!

I have caught four of them ranging up to 15" in Flowing Lake this summer. Each time, I was in 50'+ of water trolling a Mini -UV Hoochie behind a dodge flatlined w/ no weight. The hoochie was tipped w/ a Gulp Maggot, a Garlic PowerEgg and a small piece of nightcrawler each time. I have been surprised to have them hit on the surface of the deepest parts of Flowing Lake. Sure taste great!
