I was out for a little late night fishing in my kayak and to my surprise I pulled a 1.5lbs Bullhead cat from the lake. I was fishing with cut bait in the shallows around the lillies catching little Rocks. I thought I had bigger Smallmouth until it started croaking at me. First catfish I've caught.

That is not the 1st catfish that I've seen/heard about on Haller. I live nearby and fish it a fair amount. One time last summer as I was cruising around in the float tube, I found a fairly large dead catfish on someone's dock. I say catfish... bullhead/cat, etc. whatever...

Not that it matters one way or another, but I don't think there are smallies in there - some nice largies though! Good job!

I second that. Just largies in that hole unless someone put them in there recently.

I've caught three fish in Haller lake this year I thought were smallmouth. None of the fish were more than 10". I will look closer next time and try remember to bring a camera (though my little kayak fills up with gear pretty quick).

I looked at WDFW's fish ID and the catfish was definetely a Bullhead (tail not forked). From what I can tell the Channel cats are pretty limited in western WA.
