My wife kept hinting at taking our daughter to Seafair. All I could think was Parking, crowds, 3yo, 90 degrees, ugh...
So at breakfast I asked my daughter if we should take the dog and go on an "adventure" and go swimming. She LOVED the idea, and since you can't take the dog to Seafair.. ;) We get stuff together, pile into the truck and head for the hills. I kept thinking it would cool off the farther east we got - not so. Stopped on the pass for snacks an it was warmer there than the house.
Lost is higher than I have ever seen it this time of year, but that makes sense from all the snow over last winter. We went straight around to the west side and hiked down to the lake. Water was warm, breeze was warm, sun was far enough to find shade right up to the water line, not many people around - perfect!
We got there about noon, and since I was just trying to get us out of town I forgot to get any worms, so all I had for bait was some power eggs, so I tossed one out under a bobber and let it soak for a couple hours while playing with the kid and dog in the water. As the afternoon sun made the shadows of the trees fall inot the lake I noticed a few rises so switched to rooster tails. Switched colors and casted up & down the bank for an hour or so with no action.
I haven't checked to see if it has been planted recently but with it as high as it is, there is plenty to eat. I did see about 4 carcasses in various states of decay in the water so there are a few being caught. One thing I saw that was a 1st for me, there was a ton of pollywogs swimming along the shoreline and they were swarming the fish guts. Guess I assumed they ate veggie matter until the turned to frogs.
I didn't go down to the boat launch but there was a couple cruising around the lake in a jon boat and peering down from the road it looked like it had been cleared out.
