Hit the lake about 10am with the kids simply because we had never been here. Got to the lake with nobody on the water, plenty of sun, BEAUTIFUL day to be on the water. Surface temp reading 76* on the fishfinder, was a little concerned about that. Also, the lake is super cloudy, very low vis with algae right now, but nice nevertheless.
Zeroed in on a spot to I think the SE corner, near some logs sticking out and lots of lilly pads. Played with some power bait off the bottom with some luck...eggs off the bottom (no luck)...and worms off the bottom (with some luck). Ran back to the launch to let a kid use the restroom, went right back to same spot. Thats when the fun started!
Fishfinder lit up with a cloud of fish holding between 12-17 feet deep. Took everything except a worm and hook off the lines and lowerd down about 10 feet, straight off the boat. WHAM! Fish on! Very beautiful, completely silver trout put up a good fight.
From then on, we caught them about as fast as we could rig back up. Everybody caught their limits. Nothing too big (biggest was 14") but nothing smaller than 12". Good lake to take the kids if youre lookingf or quantity. Probably the best trip the kids have had this year, so a total success. Cant wait to go back!
