First trip to Baker for the season was successful, however, we failed to limit. Thanksi to rseas we got an early start leaving home at about 12:30. Arrived at the Swift launch at about 3:15 and was surprised to be about 10th in line. Got the boat in the water and started motoring from Swift a little before 4:00. Lots of fog banks so the journey to Noisy/Silver area was pretty slow. Hit one log along the way...good thing we were going slow with no damage to the boat.
Got set-up to fish at about 4:30. With the first line on the downrigger and down at 15' waiting for the second line to go on the stacker, I baited the hooks for the second line and before I could even get the second line in the clip there was a fish on the first line. The Fish Princess expertly played her to boat where she got introduced to the net and an ice bath in the live well. Got one more for each of us by about 7:30 and then things shut off for us. Kept at it until about 12:30 with no more takers and headed home happy to have 3 in the box.
Used our usual array of Abe & Al #1 flashers customized with gold scale tape, short (9" - 14") 30 lb leaders with 1.5" pink mirror smile blades bated with cocktail shrimp dyed with Bad Azz U/V red and scented with shrimp/prawn, freshwater shrimp, or krill. The shrimp/prawn seemed to be favored on this day.
With more fish being added to the lake daily, things are looking up.
