We decided to hold off going to Baker lake a day to let the weather get a bit better, and instead heded to near-by Stevens for some kokanee action.
Arrived at crack-o-dawn and had the gear down and fishing by 5:45. Four rods, staggered depths down to 55 feet to start, trolling 1.2mph. Conditions were light breeze and cloudy. Water temp 69.6. About a half dozen boats joined us for some pretty good action.
The morning bite lasted about an hour, culminating in a first for us – a triple – bites, anyway. We brought one in and two failed to stay hooked.
Things died down big time four two grueling hours, then, bamm, the action started again around 9am and lasted until we called it an early day at 11am. (gotta get the boat ready for tomorrow!).
Final tally – 7 fish in the boat. BTW, the WDFW access will be closed for a week, didn’t say why.
5:55 – 13.5” caught at 40 ft on bubblegum hoochie and dodger
6:25 – 14.5” caught at 65 ft on pink/silver hoochie with dodger
6:46 – triple hits! – caught 12” at 40 ft on amber wedding ring with dodger. Missed bites were 45 and 65 ft.
