Had a banner day at Quinalt on Saturday, gibbs spoons were the hot ticket but we saw fish taken by a couple of other boats that were using the two bladed pop gear type set-up that is legal on the lake, no more then two blades not measuring more than two inches by three inches, they were using a keel rudder before them with or without a small weight, and a worm for bait.We caught 15 fish that we kept, 7 cuts, the biggest was 15 3/4, all but one were over 12, 7 dollies, the biggest was 3 lbs. that Melanie caught, she also caught a rainbow(!) the first we've seen. Another 1/4 inch and it would have been a steelhead, the rule is any rainbow over 16 inches is considered a steelhead. She also caught a small (8 inches or so) Chinook salmon that was imm. released, gives hope for the big monster.Weather was good, after occasional spits it got bright and warmer, lake was flat so that was good.We could have limited out (24,12 each) but 15 fish is a good time to stop. All fish fought great, lost a couple on long line releases.Melane loves flatlining, it took a couple but the downrigger rod was the hot ticket as usual. We are broiling the large Dolly fillets tonight, yum, yum.Bob R

Nice work. If I may ask, what part of the lake were you fishing? Weather permitting, I plan to try Quinault myself next weekend. on an overnight camping trip.

I worked the west and south shores of the lake, concentrating on creek mouths. Good Luck, Bob R
