I finally got a chance to hookup with my best buddy and friend Roger Mineard a.k.a as Pabassman here on walakes for our long awaited trip to Potholes res and Moses lake on Saturday. Need less to say our Potholes foray was cut short because of a fuel line problem on my outboard motor and we only had on decent perch for our effort early on. Our fortunes changed dramatically as we headed out to the South end spillways on Moses lake to try for bass. I rigged Rog up one of my custom "Nature's Forage" minnow jigs. (Check my Baby bass) and Perch jigs pics below. The fishing was slow for everyone we talked to but both Roger and I were into fish from the first cast. By making long quartering casts along the concrete and current, Roger and I caught at least 40 smallmouth and largemouth bass and some decent sized perch in about an hour and a half. The technique we employed was much like rapidly witching a Texas rigged Fluke bass bait in open water. The fish were mostly on the smaller side, but well within retention size. We released everything. I took Pacbass to a favorite honey hole near I 90 on the way home and we had a hey day catching multiple species- bass , crappie, bluegill and perch to make my pre birthday fishing trip very special! An update: I just mailed a custom lure order to my good buddy Josh Realme of Quincy WA. What he caught on one of my Matador sculpin jigs was absolutely amazing : a GIGANTIC SMALLMOUTH BASS that has to be seen to believe! The photo is on my facebook link at David Gerhauser. Feel free to check it out and guess how much that fish weighed...Jiggy
