Given my lack of success recently on catfish and spiny rays, I decided to fall back on stapling carp on Scootney. Wasn't bad, but the unusually deep water in my spot (standing hamstring deep) and the weed beds made things difficult. Got a few carp, lost others (the single point Muzzy arrows are starting to annoy me - too many shakeoffs when I get the fish up to the bank - need to try the double point and see if it holds better). Found another inlet on Scootney just boiling with carp - that lake needs a rehab soon (at least in some of the shallow inlets where the carp collect).

Did throw in catfish rig on the bottom, but I wasn't very persistent or motivated, and quickly gave up.

Then I managed to break off the tip of my St. Croix bluegill rod in the truck going home. #$*%&^!!

Double points are much better. On the other hand, they die anyway, and you don't get carp scented cologne on your hands.

Yeah, but it is a pretty cruel way to die. Doesn't make me feel too good to eviscerate one with an arrow, then have it shake off and go off to die slowly and badly. I'd much rather land them and kill them mercifully. Even for carp, which are pretty foul species.
