My first time out at Sammamish. We started right off in the cove with the pads on the left of the launch. Worked it for about 30mins to 1 hr there with nothing to show for it. But I did see 1 fish jump. The weather was suppose to be dry, but we witness otherwise. A major downpour went overhead. Lasted for about 15 mins. All soaked.

So we motored off into a different spot. We pull up and immediately see surface activity. Doesn't appear to be large, but very active. I cast my spinnerbait near by and get a solid tug. Reel it in and it's a little chunky LMB. ~14" or so. We keep working this area and feel the nips. Can't tell what they are. So I busted out my trout rod. Finally catch one and they are perch. Lots and lots of perch. In the mix, I also caught my first crappie. A little guy.

While I was catching the panfish, my partner was still throwing her big bait. She wants a big one! Anyways, she got one! A HUGE squawfish. Biggest one I've seen with my own eyes.

Never had luck with the pads to the left. For smallies, check out the west end of the lake. Look for deep docks. The very North end of the lake has a huge lillypad fields where the largies hang out.
