Well, this was the first time in over a month that I've been out fishing. I got a piece of glass embedded in my foot and finally the infection is gone! I couldn't stand being couped up on such a beautiful evening, so I headed out to one of my favorite panfish sloughs off of the I82 corridor to see if they'd bite. It was pretty slow at first but the fishing heated up super fast as evening waned toward dark. I have caught thousands of crappie, but tonight's bite can only be described as torrid! Typically, Crappie tend to favor slow presentations. Not tonight. I made an errant cast with a 3" watermelon Pearl "Jiggy Minnow jig and I decided to reel it back fast for another cast when a 10" crappie slammed it! Man...talk about a vicious reaction strike on a swim bait retrieve! I duplicated that cast, but found that when I killed the retrieve, those crappie and a 3lb bass were all over it. The crappies tonight averaged 9 and 1/4 inches and my biggest ran 11". In the photos's, you will see my custom made"Jiggy minnow" in the back throat of my biggest bass and the realistic looking jighead sticking out of a decent crappie's mouth. All told, I picked up 37 fish in a little under two hours, (not at all shabby!) I was glad to get back into "The Groove" again. Feel free to check out David Gerhauser on facebook. I've got lure and big fish pic's posted there .Check Youtube for more of my fishing videos under : sturmjager44's videos. Tight lines my brothers...Jiggy.
