I hit Lake Sixteen with my dad and my little brother around 7:30 am. We trolled across the lake, but had no bites, and only saw a few fish jump. At this point, since my fish sense was telling me we weren't going to catch any bows, I switched up to Bass gear and started fishing the shoreline while my dad and brother continued trolling.
After making it half way around the lake, I managed to snag bottom with my lure, so they reeled in and we headed over to try and retreive my lure. I ended up snapping the line off, and while I was preparing to tie another swivel on, my little brother says calmly, "Hey Aaron, I got one." My dad and I turn around, and sure enough, he had one on. Swiming around, with my brother's wedding ring in it's mouth, was a little Large Mouth Bass! Aparently, the Bass in this lake take a liking to powerbait and worms, as this one had to swim right up to the boat to hit the wedding ring.
After that, we all started targeting Bass instead of trout. My dad and brother stuck with the wedding rings with powerbait and worms, but took the pop gear off, while I switched to a weedless plastic worm. We started working the shoreline, and within about 30 minutes, my dad had one on. This one seemed to be a pretty good fighter, but unfortunately, he spit the hook about 5 feet from the boat, and we never got a good look at him.
From there, we fished for about another half hour, then packed up the boat and headed for Lake McMurray.
All in all, it wasn't a real productive trip, but at least we came out of it with a great fish story!
