Well we got back from jumping off the dock at kirkland in this beautiful wheather and my dad and i decided to go to lost or devils lake becuause about 2 years ago we caught alot there! So we get there and it is gorgeous! Put the 14ft boat in and i just decided i didnt want to fish for trout and i wanted to get my first bass of the year! I put on a watermelon senko and toss it out by some cover and 5 min later had a nice dink in the boat!! First largie of the year!! Realeased it and kept on fishin! All in all i landed 4 out of 7 fish! Great day it was beautiful and nice water too! Cant wait to go back tomorrow morning! Is bass fishing in the morning good? Oh and all fish caught were in at the most 10 feet of water! The fish pictured is the first fish of the day and the size of them all!

Yes. Morning is good. I stop by there 5-6times per month in the early morning and usually catch 4 or 5 largies before sun-up. I'm a lure fishermen and I found that approaching the lake with stealth is your winning ticket.. As soon the less experienced and less knowlegeable fishermen start showing up and making noise the bite stops immediately and will be gruelingly slow from then on out. I usually leave at that time to come back in the late evening when the bite starts to pick up again.

What I do is get there before anyone else, and creep up to where the parking lot meets the shore ( bout 6-7feet back ), and gently casting. Wham...everytime - the first cast brings on a largie. If I continue to be quiet, and away from the water the hits just keep coming.

Good luck.
