Fished Lake Riley, the small bass haven, but actually got a couple largies around 3 pounds on Thursday. I always take the ultra light stuff to this lake, so those 2 felt like 6 pounders on the fight. C&R'd about 35 bass, most around 10" long. Lots of baby bass minnows from recent spawns all over with trout and bass gorging on them. Talked to a trout guy who was doing well trolling a fly (he said one he got was 17"). So I dinked around with some power bait (after the bass bite died) and got a couple 12" trout for lunch before I left. Beautiful morning and great fishing!
I finally caught my first "decent" LMB the other day when we went out to Riley. First cast with a black/silver 5" plastic. Hooked a few of them, but nothing like the size you pulled. Mind if I ask what part of the lake you were fishing?
#1 I spent most of my time fishing the resort/more populated side of the lake, but I have not spent much time at all fishing the launch side in the 2 times I've been there.
#2 This lake is located about 15 miles East of Arlington. Washington Lakes has maps that helped me find it and fish it. Plastic worms, home poured, my secret.
