Launched at Kenmore. Boated to "Fairweather Bay". Started on the outside point and worked myself in. Haven't been in this area in a few weeks. I instantly see all the weeds growing near the top of the water now. Also, I see lots of fry. TONS of them. Can't tell what they are though.

I did spot a ~15" SMB holding in the shadow of a pillar in 10' of water. Wouldn't bite anything I was throwing at it. Eventually, it got spooked and disappeared me on.

Kept working my way down into the canal part of the cove. Got several bites, but couldn't connect. They weren't big fish, but they didn't feel like small perch either. Eventually I hook into 1 and I see a bright white flash. I'm thinking a trout, then it got closer. A squawfish! A fish is a fish, even if it's a squaw.... :o

I was only able to get bites in 1 section of the cove. No follows. The weeds are all over the place now. Time was running out and I decided to head back. But I stopped off near Juanita Bay area to fish quickly, because it looked fishy....

According to Google Maps, it appears it's called "Kiwanis Park". Water was super clear there. But no fish. Spotted 3 large carps patrolling past me though.

Water temps ranged from 64-67 degrees today.

@ ilvcassidylake : I have caught squawfish on worms, spinners, and spoons. Many people consider them a pest fish and don't really fight that good per pound, and aren't really good tablefare, but they are pretty fun to catch. Good size fish Fishing Fool.

I've caught them on worms when I'm targetting perch on the docks. This is my first time catching them on my bass gear. Then again, I've only been out on Lake WA a handful of times so far.

At least today was beautiful. And I did find a new to me boat bumper floating in the middle of the lake. I was going to buy another one so that worked out well, LOL.

Those are sockeye fry

That is no sockeye fry. That's a northern pike minnow aka squawfish. They do eat the young salmon though.

Are you sure, they had trout/salmon type markings

The fish pictured is a squawfish.

this quote: 'Also, I see lots of fry.' is probably what smallieslayer is refering to.
