After watching our 3 grandson's for a couple days so our older son and his wife could enjoy hoopfest we needed a day for grandma & grandpa time so it was time to fish! Wanted to hit Lake Spokane this afternoon but due to the threat of thunderstorms this evening we wanted to be able to make it back to a dock asap so we decided to hit Deer, also because we haven't been there too much. Man, was it windy today! Hit the docks first and picked up some smallie's here and there but they were not under the docks but between them in 8-15ft of water. I picked up this nice one in the pic using a Pumpkin/orange jig with a copper/pumpkin jig n craw. The wife got dinked out using the Zoom pumpkin seed trick worm. Man, was it windy! I let the wife troll for trout awhile but I had some issue's with boat control, man, was it windy out! I went over to the north side lilly patch but it was too windy! So we headed to the south east end of the lake and the wife got dinked with a few smallies. We then headed to a stretch of docks that we have never fished before and finally found some largies! We picked up 4 in one area but only one was pushing 4 lbs. I lost a decent one that went 5lbs at the side of the boat, urggg! They weren't under the docks but in the weeds between the docks in 6-15 feet of water. The black n blue jig craw seemed to work the best even though I had one on with a 8" zoom scuppernog lizard. Did I say it was real windy! It finally died down around 7:30 pm... We ended up with about a dozen fish in the boat including a small trout the wife picked up.
