I never like writing fishing reports when I get skunked -- Especially when I can't think of any good excuse. Fishing solo, I launched my small boat onto Devereaux Lake. The weather was warm, windless and overcast -- perfect conditions for catching a few largmouth bass. I fished for about 3 hours without a single strike. I could have have thought there were no bass in the lake but I did see two fish - one about 14 inches the other about 4 inches.
Several trout anglers were fishing but I never seen any of them catch a fish. They may have - I didn't spend much time watching them. In spite of the skunk - it was a nice pleasant morning on the lake. Devereaux is a very good bass lake with lots of big fish - they just get picky sometimes.

Because its so far away I haven't fished Devereaux for a couple years. And that was the first and only time I've ever been there. But I ran into the same problem. If you were fishing shallow like I was, I didn't touch a fish. Then I moved out into 15 to 20 feet of water with a dropshot and one of my home made 4 inch worms in watermellonseed, and immediately started catching bass. I can't remember how many I caught, but it was well over a dozen. Nothing really big, but most were nice chunky bass. Like many clear water lakes, after spawn the bass will move deeper. The clearer the water, the deeper they'll hold. And lakes don't get much clearer than Devereaux. Hope that helps.

I have heard they have kokanee in this lake too. I fished it years ago in a canoe and we jigged for them and had a lot of success. haven't been back in years but may have to make a trip over there in my little one man boat

I fished at Devereaux 2 weeks ago from 6am til noon, fishing was slow, did manage 2 about 12 inch
on floating rapala in tight around laydowns. Looking foward to hooking up sometime.
