Bought some of those Berkley Power Nymphs a couple weeks back, so I decided to go test them out. I got to the lake around 5AM, and was the first person there. Walked the right side of the pond, fishing every opening on the way down. I had two rods with me, one with a jig and the other a rooster tail spinner. Early on, the only action I could get was on a fire tiger spinner. Mostly Bluegill, but they were all hand size. After catching maybe 16, I switched over to the jig. Worked it everywhere I could cast, but only hooked an 8inch crappie and a 10 pound carp. By 9AM, it was getting pretty hot, so I tried for trout off the bottom. Rigged up the usually power eggs on a 6 foot leader to float above the weeds. Long story short, I limited out on stocker sized trout, with the biggest going 14 inches. The bite was pretty slow, maybe a fish every half hour. What made the difference was the leader length and the Berkley Trout dip. As I walked out, a lot of people didn't seem to have any luck at all. Beat it back to the West side around 12PM, as it got too hot for my liking.
