Got on the water @ 8AM. Still exploring around Lake Washington. I fished directly across from the boat launch for 1 hour without a single bite. I decided to check out, what is called Meydenbauer Bay according to Google Maps.
Cranking, tubing, casting..... finally get a bite! Reeling and it pops off. Didn't see it, but wasn't big. Continue around the bay and I cast between a dock and boat. Couple rotation of the reel and fish on!!! Feels like a nice fish. Get next to boat side and see it's a SMB. Get it in the net. Forgot my camera, but luckily, my cheaper "burner" $10 phone has a camera, LOL. Landed my first fish @ 9:53AM.
15" @ 1lb 11oz.
I continue working in the cove. I had a couple more bites, but they wouldn't stick. I wanted to try another cove. Looked at my map and was thinking of Andrews Bay. I get out on the main lake and it's getting windy. I didn't want to get pounded, so drove around until I found protected waters.
A few casts in, I get a solid bite. Definately feels like a solid fish. I see the fish and it's pretty big. In the net it goes.
17" @ 2lb 14oz. This fish was caught recently. It's mouth was torn up a little and still red.
Continue on my way and get another solid bite.
16.5" @ 2lb 8oz.
I get to a spot where I caught a SMB a while back. I remember spotting 2 of them. I was only able to catch the smaller of the 2. I cast to this general area and get another solid fish. Looked to be another 17" fish or so. Oh what is this, I see a smaller SMB chasing it. Right now, my hooked fish is at boat side. I keep tension on my fish and grab my net. I'm trying to be cute and try to guide and net the roaming fish and my hooked fish at the same time.... lol. I missed but so close. Do a couple of figure 8's and missed again. Try again and pop goes my hook. :( Both swim away.
I keep fishing the general area and landed another SMB. 15" @ 1lb 10oz. Now this was an exciting fish. I was reeling in and the lure was close enough to the boat where I was able to speed up my retrieve and recast. Right when I was about to speed up, I see something dart from underneath my lure and grab it. It turns and I set the hook. Not a big fish, but was awesome to see the take.
I continue fishing and missed a couple more. I had another 1 follow and nip, but didn't inhale like the others. It was another nice size SMB in the ~17" range too.
