Hello friends. Well Jiggy and I decided to venture up to Scootney Res since we hadn't fished it together yet. We arrived around 7:30 am to a pleasantly cool and somewhat overcast lake. After getting Jiggy's john boat into the water we headed toward the end of the lake where the REALLY tall grass and tails are. I don't remember the grass being that bad! We struggled much of the morning to get a pattern together. We caught 1 or 2 nice crappie early on using our GerMin Damsel Nymph. However, the bite was slow. Jiggy hooked into a HUGE largemouth but the beast broke him off a few feet from the boat! Staying with the Damsel Nymphs, we moved around a lot. The weather changed constantly. Sunny and warm to cool and raining back to hot. Tough conditions. As we ended our trip we happened upon a rock that held suspending fish according to the fish finder. In 21 feet of water they were holding at 10 feet. We adjusted accordingly and in a matter of maybe 20 minutes boated 6 or 7 more crappie of which we kept 4. The Arizona Tea bottle is a pretty good reference to how big the keepers were. Overall it was a fun trip. We always have fun fishing together which is what matters most! Tight lines brothers and sisters! Take a kid fishing!
