I went to the lake today hoping to have alittle better luck with the koks. I got there about 6:30am, alittle later that normal. The bed just felt pretty good today.

I started out with a chartruese squid on one rod and a green spatterback squid on the other one set at 30' and 40'. Trolled this around for awhile and got one hit on each but no hookup. Nothing happened after that so I started to switch things up with different dodgers, hootchies, and wedding rings. I went with gulp maggots, and fire corn of different colors to no avail.

After pondering my next offering I decide to go with an orange and silver #2 needlefish on one rod and green and silver #2 needlefish on the other. Both were set at 30' on the rigger. I went like this for about 20 minutes then the orange lure got acouple of quick bites but no hookup. About 10 minutes later the pole with the green lure dove hard and the drag was singing. Wasn't sure what was on there but it gave a fairly good fight. After alittle battle I got it in the boat. Nice big rainbow, probably a triploid that measured at 22" and 4lbs 10 oz.

It wasn't what I was looking for but it sure made the day worth it. That's the largest one I've ever caught out of that lake. Wouldn't mind doing that again.

nice report- they just planted 1200 triploids last week so it is always a nice option when the koke's are being finicky!

Plus they are planting 10,000 half pound trout. There should be lots to catch for Fathers Day

great looking fish! The last nice rainbow I caught out of there was also 22 inches. Fishing for kokes is tough I might start trying for Bows. I have never used a needle fish any tips? like leader? dodger or no dodger? anything would help. Thanks

I was just using a small flasher as the needlefish has it's own action. I just tipped it with one small maggot to not mess with it. The leaders on both were about 24" . I had them about 40' behind the boat at 30' depth.
