My girlfriend and I tried out Shadow Lake for the first time just for the hell of it. Got on the lake around 9:20 and 2 minutes into hitting the main part of the lake she had a nice one in the boat. Within 40 minutes she had 3 more. I had lost 2 or 3, one right at the net. I finally did get a small koke. Turned out to be the smallest fish of the day. We slowly made our way to the far end of the lake. We had just passed the slide, heading towards the dead tree that leans over the water when I caught the trout of a lifetime. When I saw this fish in the water I knew it was going to become the fish that got away, the mythical grand daddy trout that people have got a glimps of but could never land in their boat. Believe me when I say there was one big sigh of relief when the fish was in the net. Just for fun I put on a flat fish and caught my last fish with it. We stayed until we both had our limits and left around 1:00. I ran into a guy I know that had a scale and tape measure. It weighed 5.7 lbs. and was 24" long.
