Boy did I screw up today. Another "I'll never heard the end of it" topic added to the list. Long story short I forgot the oars and some of the frame for my pontoon so I fished in the front seat of my Dad's aluminum boat. Which was fine, he's not terrible company hah. Just a shame because today was about the best day I've seen this season, almost glass at times and a pontoon or even float tube would have been an absolute blast.

So we fished from about 9:30am till about 12:30pm. Fish were actively feeding from the surface but I couldn't tell what they were eating. We trolled around 85% of the lake around the bank staying in roughly 8 feet to a guess of 20 feet of water. We were mainly exploring. We found half a dozen areas that seemed to have consistent bites and if we would have had more time I'm sure we'd have gotten a lot more fish.

Shortly after launching we hit a groove of several bites, then finally a hookup with a 12" healthy brook trout, followed by another dozen strikes but no hookups, and for me that was the story of the day. Must of had 30 bites, around 5 long range releases, but only one to the boat.

My Dad got 4 to the boat, all about 11-13", and all rainbows. Didn't have near as many bites as me but he was able to bring the fish to the boat so he won this round.

I did lose one nice fish about 35 feet out, I wanted it bad, but it jumped and tossed my fly, big sigh. Looked minimum to be 14" but I'd like to think by the time it got to the boat it would have been more like 16"+.

Had a lot of fun and will definitely be going back here in the future, hopefully for some camping as well. Lovely place. There were a few people at both campsites camping and others with just their fishing rigs. Besides us on the lake there were two small row boats, one kayak, and 3 or 4 pontoons.
