Hit the lake for the second time this year, got the Aircraft Carrier in the water and headed down to the Happy Hunting Grounds (far west end of the lake). We had been out the previous weekend and were catching medium sized trout (brownies and bows) in a odd location usually known for bass. The lake is up quite a bit so it may have something to do with that. We went back to that are and stated catching right away, mostly 10-12" bows. Then my buddy Bill got the big boy, a beautiful 20.5" Rainbow, nice and fat. We were all fishing with Green Wedding Rings with worms, Bill had just loaded his hook up with a giant wiggler...really paid off. We were trolling slowly, mostly powered by the wind. 10-12 feet deep, little weeds.
Later we went out to enjoy and adult beverage and the sunset. There was some kind of hatch and small fish were surfacing to feed on the little buggers. It was surreal as we sat in silence, the little fishies all around us breaching with many slurping noises, the Osprey feeding on them and the bats moving through getting what the fish didn't get.
all in all a stellar day.
