Work was pretty mellow so with plenty of pent up energy and a beautiful evening I decided to head up to Stevens to use my new kokanee gear and get my boat running smoothly.
I launched at the WDFW ramp, it wasn't too busy. The evening conditions werre low 70s, mostly sunny, and a bit of a breeze blowing out of the NW. Actually a pretty good, fresh breeze. My boat has been having plaining issues and I thought I had found the issue (rocks in the grill of my jet motor), but unfortunately it still ran like a pig and very rough now as well. I found out later I also had a bunch of line in the impellor. I hope now it will run better.
As to the fishing. I started NE of the aerators and worked into the wind and down the west side. I marked fish 25-45 ft that I'm pretty sure were silver footballs, but they were not interested in biting. I threw several different colors and rigs at them, tipped with corn and scent. Two rods off DRs, no luck. This kokanee fishing isn't the slam dunk it was the first time out. Oh well, I'm up for learning!
