Went out with my girlfriend and daughter on Sunday. Nasty day, but we were up for it. I wanted to make sure everything on my boat was working right 'cause we are heading up to Fish Lake in Chelan Co. for 4 days this week. Been having issues with my boat motor and fish finder. Well, found out my minkota and fish finder are working fine, but issues with the main motor.

Anyway, so we trolled the whole lake hopin' for kokes. Fished for hours seeing them on the finder but no hits. Finally around 3 pm we gave up (drenched and cold I might add) and started heading back. Ok so I'm sure everyone knows what happens next. WHAM!!!! BAM!!!! Double hook up between Jennifer (gf) and I. Her's was first, a nice 18" bow and then boom lost it at the boat. I brought mine in though. It was a decent 12". Ofcourse that put the end to calling it a day. We spent circling that same spot over and over again getting many hits, and then suddenly nothing. Shut the door turn the lights out, it stopped. We lost several but were able to walk away with three trout. Not what we wanted, but better then skunked. They were around 12" to 13". Wet and cold but we had a blast.

Take care and be safe.

Dont give up the Kokes are huge this year. What area were you fishing and how deep. The trout seem to be a lot higher that the Kokes right now. If your using downriggers you have to hurry up and drop them or the trout get on before you can get deep enough for the kokes. Good luck next time.

We were getting hits in a line due north of the island running between the island and the boat launch. It was probably about 20' deep. I did try lead cord for the first time though for a little while. I need more practice with it though. I don't have a downrigger. Use to, but trying to find another way that's a little easier. I've done trolling for decades, but am still getting use to deep trolling. Learning it all on my own, which is fun when it works. Thanks for the comment Mike...

You are fishing in the right spot. That is where I do most of my fishing atleast this time of year. If you think you were only down 20ft that was probably why you were getting trout. I have noticed the trout from surface to 30ft and the Kokes for the most part are below 50ft. Good luck

Thanks Mike. Gotta figure out the best way to use lead core line... Heading to Fish Lake in Chelan Co. for four days this weekend targeting the browns there. They get to be very hefty there. Will let ya know how I do.

Take care, be safe.
