Wow! An amazing day of fishing with Aaron and guide Craig Dowdy of YJ Guide Service (509) 999-0717). Craig took us out on Eiloka for a day of bass fishing, splitting the trip into an early morning crack of dawn and an evening trip. We started fishing right at 5am and within minutes began to catch fish - and not dinks, but quality fish ranging 2-4.5 pounds. We fished a black spinner made by Blade Runner Tackle and plastic senko-type worms. It was a solid morning of fishing with a lot of fish caught. We pulled out of the lake at 10am.
The evening part of our trip started at 5pm and again, in quick order we began catching fish. The gear was the same, except this time I was throwing a Mad Bass "Shake N' Mad" jig in 1/4 oz rainbow color. Craig wasn't sure rainbow would work as he is a strong believer in "any color as long as it's black", but it proved to be very effective and surprisingly weedless, with a wonderful action on retrieve. We focused on shoreline and drop-offs - if you can call going from 2 to 5 feet a drop off. The bass would come up out of the weeds and slam the Mad Bass jig. I also tossed a frog hoping to get a bucketmouth to explode on the surface, but had no luck.
We ended up catching at least a half dozen pigs in the four pound range, and another couple dozen fish ranging 1.5-2.5 pounds. Craig tells me the lake is fishing at it's peak now and will be for a few more weeks until it gets heavily choked with weeds. He has a special rate available for readers of WashingtonLakes.com. Give him a call and ask for details - it's really a great deal and Craig is a lot of fun to fish with.

dang long drive, but well worth it. Plus, gas is .40 cheaper over there - what's up with that?!?!? I know, refinery issues, what a crock. Amazing LMB fishing though, best I've ever seen.
