Went to Chain Lake today 1:45pm to 8pm. I saw it was windy so went there because it has some coves to get out of the wind. Was trying to see if the bass were active but saw some trout jumping instead. I started out with a frog and minnow rappala to start. No luck on either and it was windy! So put on my Mepps spinner green #3 and tried to cast for trout. About 2nd cast hooked one and he jumped off. I had another follow it right to the boat and turn...so next cast thought I felt a nibble on the retrieve so slowed it down just before the boat and FISH ON! Nice 10" rainbow. Let him go and got another one in same end of the lake. Did some trolling then and caught 2 more trout all 10-12". Thinking the lake must of gotten a plant and was here in early April and got zip. Saw two other boats trolling and catching trout too. I did some more trolling then would pause as a jumping fish and cast. Caught 3 in a row that way. Wind finally died down and tried the shore for some bass had two swirls at my top water bait and had one one but lost him. I even caught one trout on top water minnow. Was a good day expect for the wind landed 12 trout and lost 4-5 more. All fish released. Water level is still up and still little cool for the bass yet.

Saw on Trout stocking report after I got home that they put 2000 Trout in at Chain lake on 5/3/12. Late last year they put them in March.
