You forgot to mention that you ate the first days limit before going fishing for the third day other wise you would have been over your possession limit. Sounds like some great fishing

AH the joys of owning a Lake House....you can clean your fish at your fish cleaning station, fillet them out right there and either stick them in one of your freezers or into a brine to get them ready for smokin". If you do this on a daily basis, which will keep the fish tasting better, you do not have "possession limits" that you need to worry about. I do "transport" them from the dock to the smoker/freezer....does this mean that I am violation Spokane Fishing?

ALL I KNOW IS WHAT I READ. THE TOP OF PAGE 17 OF THE NEW SPORT FISHING RULES. "POSSESSION LIMIT FOR GAME FISH IS 2 DAILY LIMITS IN ANY FORM."

How does the meat look on rainbows out of deer? My question being that trout out of Roosevelt looks like salmon (dark red), and trout out of Loon, or Liberty looks like mush, (white or off white with a hint of orange). How do the fish look out of Deer?

Spokane Fishing...I do not think that line should be taken literally. Processed fish did not used to count in your possession limit. I have sent a request for clarification to WDFW and will let you know what they say. Kevinbe...they stock a lot of trout in Deer and this time of year you will catch trout with white meat that tastes like DOG FOOD. It generally takes about 2 months of them eating shrimp from the Lake for the color and flavor to change. Of those 15 fish Gwen caught, 7 were carryovers and the other 8 were larger recent stockers. Those will be smoked with sweet Teriyaki to mask the flavor where as the others will be smoked naturally flavored.

SPOKANE FISHING you only read PART of the regs. Possession Limit is defined on page 11 of the current regs, "The number of daily limits allowed to be kept in the field or in transit." If you had read the definition of IN THE FIELD OR IN TRANSIT on page 10 of the current regs, you would have learned what that means, "Anywhere other than at an ordinary residence. Dockside fish cleaning facilities, boat ramps, and cold storage lockers are considered in the field." To complete the KNOWLEDGE requirement, you also need to read the definition of ORDINARY RESIDENCE found on page 11 of the current regs, "A residential dwelling where a person normally lives, with associated features such as an address, telephone number, utility account, etc. A motorhome or camper parked at a campsite is not considered to be an ordinary residence."

Augwen's LAKE HOUSE completely complies with the regs, now YOU know. Augwen, PROCESSED is defined in the regs, "Fish or shellfish that have been subjected to heat (including kippering, smoking, canning, and boiling)." Freezing no longer counts as processed. What is not defined is whether "processed" (according to the regs) still counts toward the possession limit. Like you mentioned, it USED to state so, but I could not find it my current regs pamphlet. Therefore, since it is undefined, my take would be "any form" applies including processed. However, since your activities were at an ORDINARY RESIDENCE, none of this applies. :-)

AUGWEN, PLEASE SHARE WHAT WDFW HAS TO SAY ABOUT THIS POSSESSION LIMIT SUBJECT. I REMEMBER A FEW YEARS BACK THERE WERE FOLKS FROM THE WEST SIDE THAT WOULD COME OVER FOR A WEEK OF FISHING AND CANNED THE BULK OF THEIR CATCH BEFORE HEADING BACK HOME. AT THAT TIME IT WAS RULED TO BE IN VIOLATION. HOWEVER, I'VE SEEN MANY DIFFERENT REGULATION CHANGE 180 DEGREES OVER THE YEARS. IF WE CAN LEGALY KEEP MORE FISH, I THINK I'LL BE FISHING MORE.
RESPECTFULLY

If you are not staying in an ORDINARY RESIDENCE during your stay (as defined in the regs) the POSSESSION LIMIT is 2 daily limits. Renting a cabin on the lake for a week doesn't qualify because it is not a residential residence where you normally live. New this year, the regs clearly EXCLUDE campers and motorhomes as an ORDINARY RESIDENCE. It will be interesting to see if WDFW defines it differently based on what's printed in the current regs pamphlet.

Thanx Hewesfisher for the breakdowns. I had read them and arrived at the same conclusions. However those were mine and not the WDFW's. It is going to be interesting to see what people do on there 3 and 4 day fishing trips. I see some guys at Porcupine that will stay and fish for Walleye as long as 10 days. They have always filleted and froze. I do not think the Ranger cares but a WDFW guy is going to have a field day.
