Oh what a day. Got to try a new lake which is always fun. This Blue Lake has selective rules so I broke out the pontoon and fly rod. Wind was a little strong when we first got there around 4:30 and we fished until 7-7:30. My Dad mainly wanted to try out his new trolling motor.

If my Dad was doing the report I'm sure he'd give it a 5. He caught 8-10 fish, lost several at the boat, and had 20-30 strikes. He had luck again with his frog colored hot shot, but also caught some on a frog colored flatfish and a perch pattern crocodile. He trolled around at lower speeds. I think he's having too much fun on his ultra light gear. I should have hollered at him to try the middle of the lake. Fairly active fish taking things off the surface and the occasional big roll. To me it seemed in the afternoon there was more action in the middle of the lake, feeding wise, then come evening they were also active along the shore.

I stuck to the protected areas to avoid being blown to the far end of the lake. It took me a while but I finally locked into the fish and caught 5 within a stretch of maybe 50 yards. All nice rainbows, very healthy, 9, 10, 13, 15.5, 14.5. The wind died down in the evening and it was very calm along that stretch. I wish we'd have been camping there, felt like I could have hooked twice that if I'd stayed another hour.

There were half a dozen or so campers out there and I only saw two other boats out on the lake. Both had success as well. Oddly enough there were mosquitoes out!!! So beware on that. If they're showing up this early I bet it'd be hell come summer.

Also passed by Fish Lake which was rehabilitated last fall. Saw a few boats and also some shore fishermen. Just like Blue Lake there were several people camping out.

Sorry for no photos, my camera person was lost in a good book. Don't they know how important this is!? Next time I'll make sure to take some with mine.

Went to the photo section to view a map of the lake location and lake configuration and depth. But is blank. Do not see many reports for lakes in Sinlahekin. Very cool indeed. How far up Lake Chelan is this Blue? Assuming that is where it is. Since the map of it is blank.

Completely different county. This is one of 3 blue lakes in the Okanogan County. This particular lake is just a few miles north of Fish Lake. An easy way to locate it is to go to WDFW's water access sites, select Okanogan County, then pick Blue Lake(Sinlahekin), there's a handful of lakes in the Sinlahekin Wildlife Area and it's a very pretty place. It will give you coordinates with a link to map it. I use this feature then click directions and find out how long it takes and how far away these lakes are. If I can help with anymore just holler. We plan to go up that way again on our next outing so I'll take a few snapshots from the road or campsite to help update the info.

Great report. Have not fished Blue in several years, but it and Fish Lk have always produced for me. Will be up that way this coming weekend, and may have to take an afternoon trip to give her a go once more.
