This was by far my best day of fishing of the year so far! I went out on the boat in the morning, determined to catch a big fish. I fished jerkbaits all over the south end of the lake, with little luck, until we came up to a point about 10-15ft. deep. I threw my jerkbait parallel to shore, made 3 violent jerks, paused it, and when I started it up again, it got slammed! Landed the bass and she weighed in at 3 pounds 10 ounces! My new personal best on the year! No doubt a female ready to spawn. After awhile, we decided to go back to Newport marina, where our boat is moored. On the dock I started to make some flips with a dropshot baited with some white sniper snubs we recieved from kzoo (Thanks for those!). On my third flip by a boat, My dropshot gets slammed again! I land the fish (which I forgot to weigh) but I estimate it to be just slightly over 2 pounds. This one was a male. The water temp was 59, so fishing can only get progressivly better over this upcoming week.
