Took the family to Pine to try for some stockers as my wife wanted to go fishing ....well, bummer! :).
First trip to Pine this year. The pier looked crowded, but the launch wasn't overly busy aside from a boyscout troop launching a few canoes. Parking lot was nearly full though. Trolled from about 10:30 to 12:30. Unexpectedly slow. Tried a jointed Rapala, a flatfish, a spoon, and then a wedding ring tipped with worm. Got only one strike on the Rapala in the first half hour, the my wife hooks up with a smallish trout on the Rapala. Got a few nibbles on the wedding ring shortly after, but not aggressive. Saw a few other caught by other's out there, but didn't seem like it was on fire. My 6yo finished her breakfast sandwich and wanted to fish, so handed over the rod with the wedding ring. Wasn't long until she's saying "I've got one!" She reeled it in like a champ. Nice sized RB. Her first fish hooked and reeled on her own. Very exciting. The look on her face was priceless. She managed to get another of equal size (two biggest of the day) and my wife pulled in two more before our 3yo decided she'd had enough of boating. Beautiful day on the water. Fishing was kind of slow, so the report only gets 3 stars, but my wife got her first fish of the season and my daughter her first fish ever, so that makes it great (5 stars)! Tight lines.
