Well, decided to waste all that gas in hopes of finding fortune at Riffe Lake:( Only having fished the lake one time prior, and that was more of a hunting outing than fishing, I was not totally sure on how to attack it. Decided to fish shallow with reaction baits and I was not rewarded at all.
My wife and I whipped into Taidnapam to encounter a tourney just launching. So, headed to Kosmos and put in there, all alone:) About the time we got in there were boats racing around and at least 6 or 8 of them headed right to where we were going to go. We adjusted as it did not matter too us as we did not know what to do anyway.
We threw jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, cranks, and lipless cranks throughout some stump piles and near shore and out to 16 or 18 feet deep. Around 8:30 or so I got tired of the baits that I never really have much luck with because, basically, I guess I do not know how to fish them. So, in just a random spot I flick out a dropshot with a Sniper snub on and get the only bite of the day.
So, we jumped around to about 6 or 7 different areas and, finally, just got sick of casting. We had fished from about 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. or so.
Does anybody know what club was fishing Riffe today? I would like to see how they did. I never seen a fish landed but Riffe is a big lake and I was not around too many boats for all that long. They could not have done as bad as us, I have no doubt.
Surface temps. were 51 to just over 54 in one spot that I had seen.
