Had to take advantage of the nice weather so I took the afternoon off and headed up to Loon for some spring time bassin! Got on the water about 1:30, spoke to a guy that just came in with a bass boat and said he lost count at 15 fish but all were under 4 lbs. And he was right, the bite is on! Before the wind picked up I headed out to the northeast reeds and started tossing a jig n craw in the reeds that were sticking up and bam, and bam, third one ate my only special plastic craw! So I hooked up a junebug sweet beaver trailer and boy did they like that too! I lost count after 8. Saw some other boats holding up some nice one's being picked up under the docks. I picked up a couple there too and has some big fish follows, urrrgg! Was a great afternoon out by myself, which doesn't happen too often!

Would you ever consider taking a novice out to learn from the master? I have seen your posts for the last few years and you consistently cath nice bass. I live in Spokane and would love to help out on gas or even use my boat Fairly flexible with my job so mid week can work sometimes. Would love to hit Long Lake with you I live close and can't seem to really consistently catch fish there.

Jim,
Good to see you haven't lost your touch for the largies. Too bad they don't have pike in Loon Lake. It would be just like the old days on the POR. Pre Gillnet days that is.

Nice going!

@ spokanebassman2-check your e-mail, a trip to Long is always challenging! Thanks Mark, I do really miss the heart pounding anticipation of that Pike strike! There is nothing like tossing your lure, watching a wake fly towards it and bam! Then hearing that reel peel line! The Pike action was just awesome last year.

way to go man, i went to eloika that same evening and did not fair too well. I was trying out a few new ideas, one of them was jiggys new custom lures and they did catch 80% of the fish on the outing. But i did manage a few on the top water. I used jiggys lures most of the time but could not find the pearch or crappie. Fun day.

Would rather not hear about pike in Loon- the last thing that lake needs

Sorry Tim, it was a toss up between Loon or Eloika that afternoon, but for some reason I chose Loon. I know what is was, I wanted to fish the Northeast reeds because I've never caught anything out of them, honest!

Nice work Jim! I'm heading to Loon Saturday am (about 4 hours from my writing this) w/Pat & gonna try to break the 5# (LMB) mark that's eluded me so far this year. Hit me up if you wanna get out on a week night & do some Bassin' my schedule's open....because I don't have one:) P.S. I ordered some Zoom Magnum Lizards in our magic color, so next time we go I'll have a pack for you. - William K -
