If you are looking for some great bass fishing in Thurston County don't overlook Chambers Lake. It has a healthy population of big fish and receives very little pressure considering the quality of the fishery. It can be intimidating at first because of the vast lily pad field that covers virtually the entire lake, but it can provide some outstanding action if you fish efficiently. During the summer months I always start by throwing a 3/8 oz. double willow-leaf white or chartreuse spinnerbait way back in the pads and working each area thoroughly before moving on. But before I move I will always throw a weightless grub or tube and let it fall through the holes in the pads. Lizards are another good pad bait, dark colors work best in that stained water. Mornings and evenings can provide some hot topwater action during the summer months as well. The fall is my favorite time to fish this lake, the fish are more active and much easier to locate. Practice CNR to keep this fishery good!
for years to come.
