The wife and I went up to Loon for some afternoon spring time tiger trout action and had a blast. Even though we only managed 5 in the boat they were quality fish. We missed quite a few too, had a few hook ups that came off, urggg! I can 't believe I out fished my wife for trout, she always seems to catch more and even bigger one's than me but not this time! Ha! Even caught a decent 20" 3lb rainbow. Biggest Tiger went the same size but was unable to hold him for a pic so this is a pic of one of the smaller one's.

Nice report Jim. I have never once seen a picture even of a tiger that large. Ya know that fish lake by cheney has them too? I have coughten them there. That rainbow is a little bit on the ugly side due to its small little nose and weard tail. My buddy once cought a rainbow out of liberty that had almost no fins anywhere on its body. Not even a tail, it was just straight. He said it hit hard then nothing after that really. Do you eat any of the trout you keep?

Nice job there Jim. I was in the Wholesale Sports at the Valley Mall over the weekend and saw a mounted 8lb Tiger Trout in there. I believe it said it was a state record and that it was caugh from Fish Lake. That's the first one I have ever actually seen. Cool looking fish.

Thanks Tim & Mark, and I think the new state record is over 13lbs now, and it did come from Fish lake. They are a great fighting fish, comparable to a Pike but lot's of arial displays. All they do is eat, grow, and they are sterile. I caught one that went 4.2lbs last spring and have had some chasers that were larger, so they are growing pretty fast there. We watched a young man battle one that was probably 5-6 lbs off his dock but broke off after about a 5 min battle, they do have some large teeth, man, he was so mad at his girlfriend for not being able to net it! And yes Tim, I do keep and eat the Rainbows. We did eat one of the Tigers last spring and didn't really like it, kind of odd tasting...

Fished the dock at Loon with my girlfriend. Tried powerbait from a bobber then bottom floating it from the grass near the trailers. Tried white mikes trout marshmallows. Tried the docks too. Not a single bite from 8am to 3pm. Saw a few small ones plucking mosquitos from the surface of the water at the end of the short dock and between the docks. But no bites on those either. Caught a real nice sunburn though.
