Another beautiful day on the waters of Lake Chelan. Cindy and I hit the launch early, but there were two other boats already on the water and getting ready to cause havoc to the fish population. Cindy had mentioned she wanted to go fishing today, so I thought we'd try to nail down some Kokanee early then try for panfish later in the day. We trolled with the usual gear, trying different colors and didn't get a single Kokanee bite. Marked fish we thought to be kokanee in several areas and in varied depths. Worked the lower end in front of the red roofed condos, then across to Lake Side, the trolled up to minneapolis beach. Several schools of fish marked, but no takers. On the way down, we trolled in the lower basin in 40-50 feet of water and had a double hookup, but with Mackinaw instead of Kokanee. Go figure. I lost mine (6 pounder or so) at the net, but got Cindy's netted. Well, lets catch a few Macks for the smoker I says. So we circle around and Cindy is hooked up again. I put some Mack gear on my rig and Cindy stays with the silver wedding ring, behind a Mack's lure Flash-Lite, baited with corn. In about an our and a half, we have 6-8 hits, and Cindy has Two in the boat. I clean the two and Cindy reels in another one while I finish cleaning the fish. As we were wanting to hit one of the small lakes, we called it good and went down to the launch to go have lunch before the next round. She did it again, but there were fish in the boat. LOL Cindy 3, ole Blufin 0. A bag of fillets to brine, and On to the next adventure.
