After reading Rseas reports from Lake Stevens, I decided to go South to American Lake and explore. They are both about the same distance from home, just different directions.

Sorted through a bunch of different rigs looking for the right combo. Fish seemed to be mostly shallow. I didn't touch a koke, but got two rainbows in the 14 inch range. Tried Toni's rigs in Bloody Mary and Gilded Lily. Hit one rainbow on a chartruese rig and one on orange. Tipped all rigs with power maggots.

Tried chasing meter marks down to 35 and at one point 50, but got both hits in the 10-15 range with the rigs waaay behind the boat, compared to the 6 pulls I usually run for kokes.

Beautiful day!

Sorry you traveled that far and didn't get any kokanee. Did you use any dodgers?

Yup. Tried my favorite 50/50, also hammered silver, silver with prism tape and flash lites.

I really expected to get bit on the bloody mary, and we couldn't keep them off the gilded lily at Chelan, and I figured rainbows would hit that too. But I don't know American at all, so I could have been fishing in all the wrong places, depths, etc...

American is still pretty slow, some people are having luck but nothing like last year this time. I find that the UV dodgers work better than the 50/50 or silver. I picked up a lot of trout with the pink splater Dick Nite the other day. All the Rainbows I have caught have been in 15' of water.
