I've been wanting to fish this lake through the ice this winter, but alas, no ice! I finned around in my pontoon boat Saturday and trolled with my fly rod in a friends boat Sunday. I used my lake standby setup, A wooly bugger (black this time) and a prince nymph. Saturday was busy and I hooked at least 30. I fought with about 15 and landed 6. They were all fairly small (8-10 inches) Rainbows. Sunday I caught most on a wooly bugger (black) or a waterboatman. Most effective was a fast (for fining anyways) kick troll or a jerky retrieve, with pauses. They would bite for awhile and then nothing for an hour, then action again. Warm shallow water was most productive, but the deeper water produced the strongest "hits", I just couldn't hook up with anything large.. Nice lake but there is a LOT of trash floating in the lake, bottles, cans, assorted plastic crud. Please respect your recreation areas.
