Well, if you haven't read my previouse report on Potholes you won't fully appreciate how Saweeeeetttt this was. I've fished this lake many times and have never been skunked. It was my first choice for last weekend, but the reports said it was still frozen over. So my gal and I decided to try Potholes last Friday and Saturday. Without even a bite (and we fished Potholes and most of the Seeps Lakes hard)We went exporing up to banks and then over to Fish Lake. Yes, a lot of driving but WOW well worth it.
I just wanted to show her Fish Lake even though it was frozen over. Well, when we got there there was one guy on the dock fishing. He told us that the ice just broke open about 3 or 4 hours before we showed up. He had a grocery bag bulging with nice fat trout. We could hardly wait to start casting. We ran back to the car, grabbed the poles with Kastmaster and proceeded to turn our weekend around.
Within about 1-1/2 hours we each landed 4 trout and missed many others. Some of them were in the 18"-20". I was ahead in the count and I've been telling her about the browns in this lake. Then I see a swirl right along the reed line and told her "I bet that's a brown prowling." Yes, exactlly. She throws her lure over there and lands a nice 20" brown trout... It was a content and happy drive all the way back home to Renton. It doesn't get any better then that.
Enjoy Washington friends!!!
