Fished LBP from 11:00 to 3:00. Overcast and fairly calm winds. I fished a spinnerbait pretty exclusively, as I have never caught a bass on a spinnerbait. Nothing to show until around 1:00 when one of the guys down the way hooked up with a fat 2+lber, took a pic and released it. That was promising, so hooked up a black spinner with a rage tail trailer. 2nd cast with that and fish on! Nice little fighter and fun to haul in, maybe 1 3/4lbs. All the better it was my first spinnerbait bass! A few minutes later caught another on the same set up and probably a little smaller. Had some more hits but nothing set and then the clouds and rain moved in.

Grats on the 1st spinnerbait bass! If it is something you really want to get into there are some great tackle catalogs where you can pick up all the parts and its a heck of a lot cheeper. Nice looking fish, gj!

Spinnerbaits would work better if we had shad in our lakes.

Why? because bass only eat shad?

Spinnerbaits represent shad or other bait fish.

uhh.. spinnerbaits work great in washington even without shad in our lakes. perch, sunfish, bluegill, juvenille bass, stickleback, we have a ton of different baitfish other than shad. there's a reason why there are a ton of different color patterns and skirts. to mimic all types of forage, not just shad.
