I started fishing around 10:30am even though I could see that it was windy but partly cloudy out. I took the water temp by hooking a thermometer to the downrigger and going to 15 foot. It was 48 degrees. Then I tried to troll which was very hard because of the wind. I used several lures and bait. Nothing got a bite. I even had silver blades. After a bit I switched those out. I did see more fish on the finder between surface and 20 feet down than the last time I was out. I trolled the thermometer and it went up to 49.
I quit fishing after a wind wave entered the side of my boat uninvited. I stayed for 2 hours.

It was crazy windy. We had a guy take a rental boat from our place and he came back really early because of the crazy conditions. Good luck next time.

No fun fishing in that kind of wind. In mid April last year I began consistantly catching pre spawn smallmouth in 10 to 15 ft of water. Shouldn't be long now.
