Arrived at the lake around 8:45 and saw a lot of surface activity. Launched float tube and headed into West end. By the time I reached it, surface activity was virtually nil. Slowly pulled size 12 black chironomid with silver rib and hooked up with a 15 incher, bright and feisty. Saw several bows over 16" cruising the shallows but nothing seemed to interest them. Tried the very outlet end but still no interest so back to South shore where I hit one more bow about 16 inches. The chironomid hatch was apparently early and there were a fair number of casing on the surface. Still not much bug activity so return in two weeks should be about right.
