Well, the water is warming up. Morning temp 46.7, afternoon 48.1. There was a little on-and-off rain, hail, and sunshine throughout the day. Started out with a modified chart. wedding ring in the morning and switched to a bright orange one in the afternoon. First fish was a 9" koke (yes, I have been catching kokes here since '79), he went back in. I don't think the State is planting koke. Every year there are fewer of them and their size is usually less than 9". The next three were bows between 10" and 12", they also went back in to grow up.
It was really good to feel a fish on again after two months of American L. skunks. Deep Lake (Nolte State Park) is only 39 Ac, but is up to 90 feet deep! Saw fish at all depths, but the only ones biting were in the top 15 feet.
Two shore fishermen were casting lures from the swimming area and appeared to be doing well. I left about 4pm as a large dark front was approaching.
P.S.: You will need a Discovery Pass here.
