Well, this spring is shaping up to be a hella great fishery here in the Lower Yakima Valley. I missed an opportunity to fish with my bro Jjball50 as he and I got crisscrossed on which pond was which. I hooked up with Walaker Pacbassman of Yakima and headed to Pond #4, the one with the dock in search of crappie. Weather conditions and the moon phase didn't seem to smile on us at first as all we ended up with for wo hours of jigging was 3 medium perch and no crappie. We decided to head for the dock and sniff out some planter trout. We ran into Walaker Caliboy43 on the dock as well. These ponds were stocked recently, so our prospects were looking pretty good. It didn't take long to connect. I caught several fish on various "Jiggy Nymphs" in watermelon and Guacamole. But the game changer was my own hand made 1/64th oz "Jiggy Pellet" (trout pellet jig.) We ended up catching and releasing nearly 50 trout on brown and beige colored jigs. We took home two decent limits for the skillet. (I pressed down the hook barb after the photo for easier fish releasing.) Adding Mikes crawfish scent was huge also. Can't wait to try these little jigs on Rufus Triploids! Hey Lewis... We gotta hook up sir! Jiggy

Howdy Jiggy, your reports make me want to head south to fish your stomping grounds. It's nice when a plan comes together. BTW, RW is still "Pretty Slow" right now. Heard reports from several sources of a continued slow biite. Maybe soon?

Jiggy, hard to tell when looking at the close up picture of the pellet . But is that basically a piece of sponge or chenille, on a 1/64oz jig head? I like that there are no secrets, when it comes to what worked to catch the fish on that day.

It turned out to be a fun day. Even if they were planters. On a 5 ft ultra light Ugly Stik it was entertaining! We met some good people as well which is far more rewarding than the fish themselves. Great to meet Tom, Jim and Billy and hope to meet up with you guys again soon! Good job as usual Jiggy, my brother!

Rog and the guys. When the fishing is tough, It's awesome to be able to be flexible and target other species. Tom is one of the best crappie fishermen I know as you are with float fishing Rog.I am looking forward to learning more techniques in the future and having fun doing what we love to do...catching fish!
