Launched The boat at Roses Lake around 12:30, light variable breeze with temp in the upper 40s, and partial clouds. Cindy and I were out to test the water for the pan fish bite. Surface water temps ranged from 42* - 47*, depending on the location. We tried our usual presentation of small plastics tipped with “Crappie Nibbles”, but had to resort to tipping our offerings with a piece of night crawler to get bit.
The stocker trout were plentiful, and we kept 6 before we found some perch. The perch we found cooperative were on the north end along the tulle edges. We didn’t find many, but ended up keeping 8 that ranged from 8 -12”. I caught one blue gill around 7”, but no crappie. As the water warms, the bite should improve, but it was a good time spent on the water exploring. There were 6-8 boats on the water with one bass boat. The Basser said he caught several bass, but didn’t mention any details. Take care and go catch a fish
