I hadn't fished Fourth Of July Lake in a couple of years; so I decided to give it a try with my wife. The weather was overcast and cold, but not windy until we arrived post hike at the fishing spot. I knew it to be "The Spot" when I noticed the empty Keystone Light Tall Boy can on the shore. (A side note to Keystone Light drinkers...WHY do you folks seem to litter your cheap crap beer cans in an out of preportion number?) Anyway, on the wife's second cast...BAM a large rainbow smacks her Thomas Spoon and the fight is on. Several jumps and runs afterward, I am able to net a very thick 16" trout. Of course "Your's Truely" gets ZERO bites and the wind begins to howl to the point that we are both freezing and give it up. (I know...Meow, Meow.) A fun day nonetheless, even with the good natured ribbing on my lack of fish from my sweet wife and I'm sure my ever supportive co-orkers who will read this report.

Great report T-Bone. This used to be one of my favorite places to go for winter fishing. I had a "spot" that always produced, and many times arctic blasts would blow us off the shore, and we'd regret the 30 - 40 minute hike back to the parking lot with a couple limits. Thanks for sharing your outing, and just so you know, wives always catch the first, more, and bigger than husbands, least that's how it is with my wife and me. :-)
