The wife was busy and it wasn't raining so I decided to make a quick fishing trip to Lake Washington to fish Log Boom park in Kenmore. I'd heard there might be some trout cruising the shallows this time of year. I took the ultralight combo I got for Christmas (Okuma Celilo 6' UL w/ Pflueger Trion spinning reel) and some spinners and spoons that hadn't been fished yet.
Weather was good, almost like a summer day other than the temperature. Blue sky shone through broken clouds, swallows were flying around, and the lake was calm.
I casted my way down the dock, spent some time at the end, and came back without a bite. The water seemed pretty brown, probably due to the torrential rains bringing silt down the Sammamish Slough this week.
So I packed it up after an hour and a half or so I traded my pole for binoculars and did some birding, which was much, much more productive. That's a report for another site, however. The good news is that the rod and reel worked well and I look forward to catching to trout, panfish, and perch later this year.
